About the Chemistry Centre

The Chemistry Centre is a beautifully-restored facility for celebrating chemistry, with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment for sharing the experience.

Formally opened on 30 April 2010 by RSC President Professor David Garner, the Chemistry Centre was developed to exploit the full potential of our city centre location in Burlington House on London’s Piccadilly, a building that we share with the Royal Academy of Arts and four other learned societies with a long and proud heritage.

The Chemistry Centre is our principal venue for public lectures on a wide variety of fascinating topics, from the chemistry of curry to challenges of developing genetically modified organisms for our food supply. Our regular public lecture series is open to all. Please see the Events section of this website for a list of forthcoming events.

The Chemistry Centre also serves as an important meeting place for our many of our expert scientific interest groups, and some of the most important debates and discussions that have shaped modern science have taken place here.
